        Guided Steps Counseling and Consulting, LLC is a private-pay therapy and consulting practice. What does that mean? This means that each client, couple, or family will pay out-of-pocket/privately for services offered. It's important to know that Insurance companies mandate that in order to cover mental health services appropriately under insurance plans, a mental health diagnosis MUST be given and documented on your permanent health record. Insurance companies will then have access to a significant amount of your sensitive and private information about you by requesting to review all of your records whenever they choose to.  Because of the tremendous stigma and mis-education surrounding mental health and mental health diagnoses, having a diagnosis on your permanent health record could lead to potential denial for such things as life insurance and health insurance premiums could possible increase. Additionally, insurance companies often attempt to limit the type of therapy that can be done, the number of sessions they will cover, and what form of therapy they will cover, which can significantly hinder therapy progress and successful outcomes. It is my desire to be an advocate for each of my clients and ensuring effective treatment by offering a high degree of privacy and more control over their health records, as much as allowed by Florida law.
